on heaven's virtues don't opine
O preacher talk of food and wine

mah-jabin yaad hain ki bhul gae
wo shab-e-mahtab ki baaten

do you recall O moon faced one
on moonlit nights what we had done

harf aaya jo aabru pe meri
hain ye chashm-e-pur-ab ki baaten

if, blemish on my honor, came
my teary eyes are then to blame

sunte hain us ko chheD chheD ke hum
kis maze se itab ki baaten

I tease her for I love to hear
her anger's music to my ear

jam-e-mai munh se tu laga apne
chhoD sharm o hijab ki baaten

do let your lips in wine immerse
let shame and modesty,disperse

mujh ko ruswa karengi KHub ai dil
ye teri iztirab ki baaten

disgraced, O heart you now shall be
because of your anxiety

jao hota hai aur bhi KHafaqan
sun ke naseh janab ki baaten

go, angrier now let him be
when the preacher talks to me

qissa-e-zulf-e-yar dil ke liye
hain ajab pech-o-tab ki baaten
