वादा-ए-वस्लत से दिल हो शाद क्या

वादा-ए-वस्लत से दिल हो शाद क्या
तुम से दुश्मन की मुबारकबाद क्या

why should vows of union now enthuse?
compliments from foes like you, what use?

कुछ क़फ़स में इन दिनों लगता है जी
आशियाँ अपना हुआ बर्बाद क्या

being caged now-a-days is easeful rest
is it that someone has destroyed my nest?

नाला-ए-पैहम से याँ फ़ुर्सत नहीं
हज़रत-ए-नासेह करें इरशाद क्या

there is no leisure from constant lament
O preacher what account can I present

हैं असीर उस के जो है अपना असीर
हम न समझे सैद क्या सय्याद क्या

when imprisoned by my prisoner then
who is captor, captive's hard to ken

शोख़-बाज़ारी थी शीरीं भी मगर
वर्ना फ़र्क़-ए-ख़ुस्रव-ए-फ़रहाद क्या

नश्शा-ए-उल्फ़त से भूले यार को
सच है ऐसी बे-ख़ुदी में याद क्या

love's headiness made me forget her too
in stupor nought can one recall it's true

नाला इक दम में उड़ा डाले धुएँ
चर्ख़ क्या और चर्ख़ की बुनियाद क्या

a plaintive cry of mine will vaporize
the very foundations of lofty skies

जब मुझे रंज-ए-दिल-आज़ारी न हो
बेवफ़ा फिर हासिल-ए-बेदाद क्या

torture's not a source of pain to me
O faithless one why then this cruelty

पाँव तक पहुँची वो ज़ुल्फ़-ए-ख़म-ब-ख़म
सर्व को अब बाँधिए आज़ाद क्या

curling tresses reach her feet you see
can the cypress now held to be free?

क्या करूँ अल्लाह सब हैं बे-असर
वलवला क्या नाला क्या फ़रियाद क्या

Lord! what can I do? Of no avail
is to weep or vent or even wail

इन नसीबों पर किया अख़्तर-शनास
आसमाँ भी है सितम-ईजाद क्या

just in counting stars my life is spent
what tortures these cruel skies invent

रोज़-ए-महशर की तवक़्क़ो है अबस
ऐसी बातों से हो ख़ातिर शाद क्या

futile is the hope for judgement day
such talk won't raise my spirits any way

गर बहा-ए-ख़ून-ए-आशिक़ है विसाल
इंतिक़ाम-ए-ज़हमत-ए-जल्लाद क्या

बुत-कदा जन्नत है चलिए बे-हिरास
लब पे 'मोमिन' हरचे बादा-बाद क्या
