کوئی دن گر زندگانی اور ہے
اپنے جی میں ہم نے ٹھانی اور ہے

آتش دوزخ میں یہ گرمی کہاں
سوز غم ہائے نہانی اور ہے

where can this heat be found in flames of hell
the heat of hidden sorrow's nonpareil

بارہا دیکھی ہیں ان کی رنجشیں
پر کچھ اب کے سرگرانی اور ہے

her anger oftentimes though I have seen
but this time round it is another scene

دے کے خط منہ دیکھتا ہے نامہ بر
کچھ تو پیغام زبانی اور ہے

the letter hands,yet stares the messenger
some verbal message surely there's from her

قاطع اعمار ہے اکثر نجوم
وہ بلائے آسمانی اور ہے

to shorten lives the stars often conspire
her deadly form is something else entire

ہو چکیں غالبؔ بلائیں سب تمام
ایک مرگ ناگہانی اور ہے

now all calamities have come to pass
all that remains is sudden death alas
