کم فہم ہیں تو کم ہیں پریشانیوں میں ہم

کم فہم ہیں تو کم ہیں پریشانیوں میں ہم
دانائیوں سے اچھے ہیں نادانیوں میں ہم

in my lack of knowledge, less troubles bother me
much better than being wise has been behaving foolishly

شاید رقیب ڈوب مریں بحر شرم میں
ڈوبیں گے موج اشک کی طغیانیوں میں ہم

it could be in a sea of shame my rival will be drowned
I, sunken in the stormy waves of envy will be found

محتاج فیض نامیہ کیوں ہوتے اس قدر
کرتے جو سوچ کچھ جگر افشانیوں میں ہم

why then beholden to the grace of life-force, would I be
if scattering my heart around, I'd acted thoughtfully

پہنچائی ہم نے مشق یہاں تک کہ ہو گئے
استاد عندلیب نوا خوانیوں میں ہم

this practice I have taken to such heights that I can claim
to have surpassed the nightingale and put all bards to shame

غیروں کے ساتھ آپ بھی اٹھتے ہیں بزم سے
لو میزبان بن گئے مہمانیوں میں ہم

when with my rivals you too rise to leave the company
Instead of being among the guests, the host I'm held to be

جن جن کے تو مزار سے گزرا وہ جی اٹھے
باقی رہے ہیں ایک ترے فانیوں میں ہم

whoever's grave you ventured past, a new life did obtain
of all who perished in your love, alone do I remain

گستاخیوں سے غیر کی ان کو ملال ہے
مشہور ہوتے کاش ادب دانیوں میں ہم

my rival's actions coarse and crude so hurtful did she find
if only I was famous for being cultured and refined

دیکھا جو زلف یار کو تسکین ہو گئی
یک چند مضطرب تھے پریشانیوں میں ہم

when her tresses I beheld, peace only then I found
I was restless until now as troubles did surround

آنکھوں سے یوں اشارۂ دشمن نہ دیکھتے
ہوتے نہ اس قدر جو نگہبانیوں میں ہم

signals my rival made to her I never would have seen
if amongst her sentinels, like this, I had not been

جو جان کھو کے پائیں تو فوز عظیم ہے
وہ چیز ڈھونڈتے ہیں تن آسانیوں میں ہم

a prize is truly worthy if obtained at cost of life
we seek for things which we can get without a hint of strife

پیر مغاں کے فیض توجہ سے شیفتہؔ
اکثر شراب پیتے ہیں روحانیوں میں ہم

sheftaa, the tavern's elder casts his favors, grace on me
I often get the chance to drink in pious company
