ye hum jo hijr mein diwar-o-dar ko dekhte hain
kabhi saba ko kabhi nama-bar ko dekhte hain
Separation makes me glance, at these my walls and gate
at times for the breeze, at times, for messenger I wait
wo aae ghar mein hamare KHuda ki qudrat hai
kabhi hum un ko kabhi apne ghar ko dekhte hain
that she has come to my home, is God's divinity
At times I look at her face, at times my home I see
nazar lage na kahin is ke dast-o-bazu ko
ye log kyun mere zaKHm-e-jigar ko dekhte hain
the evil eye should'nt befall, her hands and arms I pray
why, at the wounds of my heart, do people stare today
tere jawahir-e-tarf-e-kulah ko kya dekhen
hum auj-e-tala-e-lal-o-gohar ko dekhte hain
what do I see these jewels, encrusted on your head
fate of these pearls and rubies, I regard instead
Ghazal
Ye hum jo hijr mein diwar-o-dar ko dekhte hain
