گئی وہ بات کہ ہو گفتگو تو کیونکر ہو
کہے سے کچھ نہ ہوا پھر کہو تو کیونکر ہو

gone is the time I used to think, how will I speak with you
but talking did not help at all, now say what can I do

ہمارے ذہن میں اس فکر کا ہے نام وصال
کہ گر نہ ہو تو کہاں جائیں ہو تو کیونکر ہو

just union with my loved one is, now all that bothers me
where will I go were not to be, if were, how can it be

ادب ہے اور یہی کشمکش تو کیا کیجے
حیا ہے اور یہی گو مگو تو کیونکر ہو

what can I do, this dilemma, am bound by courtesy,

تمہیں کہو کہ گزارا صنم پرستوں کا
بتوں کی ہو اگر ایسی ہی خو تو کیونکر ہو

وہ نیش ہو رگ جاں میں فرو تو کیونکر ہو

مجھے جنوں نہیں غالبؔ ولے بقول حضور
فراق یار میں تسکین ہو تو کیونکر ہو
