شام فراق اب نہ پوچھ آئی اور آ کے ٹل گئی
دل تھا کہ پھر بہل گیا جاں تھی کہ پھر سنبھل گئی

Query not my lonely night it came and went away
The heart was consoled and life managed not to fray

بزم خیال میں ترے حسن کی شمع جل گئی
درد کا چاند بجھ گیا ہجر کی رات ڈھل گئی

In the parlour of my thoughts your beauty's lamp was lit
The moon of pain vanished again, the night of parting quit

جب تجھے یاد کر لیا صبح مہک مہک اٹھی
جب ترا غم جگا لیا رات مچل مچل گئی

When your thoughts arose, fragrant was the morn
When your sorrow's woke, the night was all forlorn

دل سے تو ہر معاملہ کر کے چلے تھے صاف ہم
کہنے میں ان کے سامنے بات بدل بدل گئی

I ventured forth with all my thoughts properly arranged
In her presence when I spoke, the meaning had all changed

آخر شب کے ہم سفر فیضؔ نہ جانے کیا ہوئے
رہ گئی کس جگہ صبا صبح کدھر نکل گئی

Where the night's companions went I do not know
Where did the breeze vanish where did the morning go
