जो इस शोर से 'मीर' रोता रहेगा

जो इस शोर से 'मीर' रोता रहेगा
तो हम-साया काहे को सोता रहेगा

O Miir so loudly, if you continue to weep
how will your neighbor be able to stay asleep

मैं वो रोने वाला जहाँ से चला हूँ
जिसे अब्र हर साल रोता रहेगा

such a lamenter I am who's about to die
for whom each year clouds will continue to cry

मुझे काम रोने से अक्सर है नासेह
तू कब तक मिरे मुँह को धोता रहेगा

preacher I am wont to weep, time and again
till when will you keep wiping tears of my pain

बस ऐ गिर्या आँखें तिरी क्या नहीं हैं
कहाँ तक जहाँ को डुबोता रहेगा

O weeping, do you not have eyes, tell me pray
till when will you keep drowning the world this way

मिरे दिल ने वो नाला पैदा किया है
जरस के भी जो होश खोता रहेगा

my heart has produced a wailing so intense
even the clanging bell now will lose all sense

तू यूँ गालियाँ ग़ैर को शौक़ से दे
हमें कुछ कहेगा तो होता रहेगा

you may berate my rival as much you choose
don't blame me for the outcome, if me too you abuse

बस ऐ 'मीर' मिज़्गाँ से पोंछ आँसुओं को
तू कब तक ये मोती पिरोता रहेगा
