وعدۂ وصلت سے دل ہو شاد کیا

وعدۂ وصلت سے دل ہو شاد کیا
تم سے دشمن کی مبارک باد کیا

why should vows of union now enthuse?
compliments from foes like you, what use?

کچھ قفس میں ان دنوں لگتا ہے جی
آشیاں اپنا ہوا برباد کیا

being caged now-a-days is easeful rest
is it that someone has destroyed my nest?

نالۂ پیہم سے یاں فرصت نہیں
حضرت ناصح کریں ارشاد کیا

there is no leisure from constant lament
O preacher what account can I present

ہیں اسیر اس کے جو ہے اپنا اسیر
ہم نہ سمجھے صید کیا صیاد کیا

when imprisoned by my prisoner then
who is captor, captive's hard to ken

شوخ بازاری تھی شیریں بھی مگر
ورنہ فرق خسرو و فرہاد کیا

نشۂ الفت سے بھولے یار کو
سچ ہے ایسی بے خودی میں یاد کیا

love's headiness made me forget her too
in stupor nought can one recall it's true

نالہ اک دم میں اڑا ڈالے دھوئیں
چرخ کیا اور چرخ کی بنیاد کیا

a plaintive cry of mine will vaporize
the very foundations of lofty skies

جب مجھے رنج دل آزاری نہ ہو
بے وفا پھر حاصل بیداد کیا

torture's not a source of pain to me
O faithless one why then this cruelty

پانوں تک پہنچی وہ زلف خم بہ خم
سرو کو اب باندھئے آزاد کیا

curling tresses reach her feet you see
can the cypress now held to be free?

کیا کروں اللہ سب ہیں بے اثر
ولولہ کیا نالہ کیا فریاد کیا

Lord! what can I do? Of no avail
is to weep or vent or even wail

ان نصیبوں پر کیا اختر شناس
آسماں بھی ہے ستم ایجاد کیا

just in counting stars my life is spent
what tortures these cruel skies invent

روز محشر کی توقع ہے عبث
ایسی باتوں سے ہو خاطر شاد کیا

futile is the hope for judgement day
such talk won't raise my spirits any way

گر بہائے خون عاشق ہے وصال
انتقام زحمت جلاد کیا

لب پہ مومنؔ ہرچہ بادا باد کیا
